There is nothing that compares to eating out. For me, to go out with my family and enjoy a delicious dish without having cooked it myself … it’s like a prize. That’s why today I want to share with you 5 restaurants that you have to try in Maryland. These 5 places that I have chosen are on the list of my favorites for many reasons, not just for their good food. These are restaurants that I consider, fulfill the mission of making the experience a delight; places that give you nice attention and their establishments are pleasant and perfect to visit with the family.
This list doesn’t go by any special order but they do offer different types of food, so if you choose one of them to go out on the weekend, everyone will be satisfied.
Another important detail about these 5 restaurants that you have to try in Maryland, is that the price range is between $ 12.00 and $ 30.00 per plate.
The best restaurants you have to try in Maryland
Copper Canyon Grill
This restaurant offers what it is to me, two essential things: Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. At Copper Canyon Grill the food is delicious and the presentation of the dishes is always perfect.
From salads and main courses to desserts, always look exquisite. I love going to this restaurant when I want to enjoy a delicious Roasted Chicken. If it’s your first time, the waiter kindly details the process by which they prepare this deliciousness. Actually, the food is exquisite and the service is very good.
They have a family-friendly environment but really my husband and I usually go alone when we want time for ourselves because of the atmosphere of the place. Very elegant and they have a full bar.
Now, if you are a vegetarian, you should know that the menu options aren’t many. However, their desserts always surprise me.
If you go you should try the specialty of the house: Wood-Fired Rotisserie Chicken and it costs $ 19.00 for the dish. A little high for a roasted chicken you could say, but it’s worth it. It is delicious! without exaggerating.
A plate of ribs in barbeque can cost up to $ 33.00 which we could say is the most expensive on the menu. And if a good dessert is your thing, you should try their “Chocolate Uprising” … Omg is a stairway to heaven.

Texas Roadhouse
This is a special recommendation for those who like a delicious and juicy piece of meat. Having the opportunity to choose the piece of meat you want to eat is one of the qualities of this place. At Texas Road House, when you arrive you are greeted with a barrel full of peanuts from which you can enjoy whatever you want while you wait. In their waiting room, you see the peanut shells on the ground because whoever waits, just peels the peanuts and drops the rest to the floor and it’s ok.
Already at the table, they always delight you with delicious freshly baked bread and butter (my favorite part). My recommendations for you to try at Texas Roadhouse are the steaks and the ribs, of which you can even make a combination. I also love that they have a very extensive children’s menu so the kids can eat something different every time they go.
If you go to celebrate a birthday you have to go ready to ride a horse. Well, is not a real horse but those who celebrate a birthday here, wear a hat and ride on a saddle with a wooden base. Very funny.
This is a very relaxed and family-friendly restaurant. Its decoration is all with wood details and most of its tables are booths.
They have 9 restaurants in Maryland but the one I visit often is in Bowie, MD:

Dominican Restaurant in Maryland
La Casa del Mofongo
In this list, of course, I could not miss the Latin options. Have you tried Dominican food? The Dominican gastronomy is delicious and my favorite restaurant to enjoy it is without a doubt “La Casa del Mofongo”. It was here that I tasted tostones for the first time. Yes, believe it or not, I’ve never tried them before.
In my country of origin, Guatemala, we do not prepare the plantains this way. A Dominican friend invite me to this restaurant and since then I fell in love with Tostones. Try tostones with salami is my delirium. It is one of the most basic dishes but I love them.
Also, the family picadera is exquisite, but these are appetizers type of dishes. If what you want to enjoy is a main dish then for me the best choice is the Mofongo with shrimp. They have so many dishes to choose from, but you can’t leave this restaurant without having tasted their delicious Mojitos.
These mojitos are good as they are dangerous because they are so well prepared that you don’t even feel the liqueur thanks to their sweet taste, but after the Third one, you begin to remember that you are having a drink with alcohol. Located very close to downtown Silver Spring, La Casa del Mofongo offers the most delicious Dominican food.
The restaurant has also a family atmosphere, although if you go with children I recommend you take them during the day. The restaurant has different events assigned during the night, depending on the day. The type of events they have is musical presentations with special artists and karaoke nights. So if you go with family, on the weekends, do it while the sun shines.
Oh, and one more thing, if you go don’t forget to try the famous “Die Dreaming”(Morir soñando). It is a mixture of orange juice with natural milk, ice, and sugar. It is a delight. This drink and a good mofongo complete the experience of Dominican food.

Taqueria Los Primos
Let me tell you how I discovered this awesome restaurant. I used to work in an office in the city of Laurel and my co-workers used to tell me about this awesome food truck at the corner of Route 1 and Route 32. Although I drove many times through the area I never knew existed. But one day we all decided to go and even though I was not impressed by the tables and umbrellas they had outside I was definitely blown away by the flavor of their variety of dishes. So many times at lunch we went there during the week.
In this truck, you could always see very friendly guys attending to the bunch of people that no matter what, if it was hot or cold, they lined up to try the delights they were selling. I remember one day I said to one of the guys: “You should have a restaurant, your food is delicious” And one of them said: “That’s what we’re doing, we’re saving money for that, and with God’s blessing very soon we’ll do it”.
Who was going to say that a couple of years later I was going to see the restaurant, and almost across the street from where I worked Every time I go, it gives me so much pleasure to see the place because I could see where they started. What I heard is that they still have the truck in the same place just to let people know that they now have a restaurant.
In Taqueria Los Primos you’ll find what they are for me, the best Mexican tacos in all of Maryland. Seriously and without exaggeration, the Mexican food they have is the best. Each taco costs $ 2.00 and my favorite is the beef and the pastor tacos. Is funny to me because tortillas have never been my favorite but if I’m having their tacos, I eat up to 6.
But please try also the “Gringas“. Not in all Mexican restaurants will you find them because they seem to have been invented in a specific area of the southern United States. Nobody knows exactly where or when the gringas were born but they are delicious.
This restaurant also has a suitable environment to receive families with children and the patio tables are great for meetings with friends in summer. Although if you are going to take the kids I recommend that they go during the day. Like any other place where beer is sold, it is better to take the family on suitable schedules for all audiences.

Famous Dave’s
The #3 of restaurants to try in Maryland are:
Go to this restaurant only if you are hungry and eager to eat the best BBQ ribs you’ve tried. When we go here, we’re always very hungry, and my husband says: “Tomorrow, don’t have breakfast ’cause we’re going to Famous Dave’s”.
That is the only way you can enjoy everything this restaurant has. It is a restaurant in which they’re friendly with children. It is also the perfect place to watch a Football game because they have TV screens around the bar area and a good selection of cold beers. So if you go with friends or someone special they have a full bar.
I have to confess that I have never tasted desserts here, but not because I do not want to, it’s because I can’t. We are a family of 4 and we always get the All-American BBQ Feast ($ 63.99) it’s so much food that you’re quickly satisfied because you taste a little of every delicacy they offer.
Look what a delight! This accompanied by your favorite drink is enough to satisfy any palate. It’s one of my favorite places. They offer barbecue ribs, chicken, hamburgers, sandwiches, appetizers, salads, and drinks. I love the decoration of the place. As soon as you step inside, you are transported to a farm in Kansas City or to a cabin in Texas. It is open for lunch and dinner. It is a great place. And as the famous Dave Anderson says:
” May you always be surrounded by good friends and great barbecue”.
